When running the trial version of the Enteprise Architect (available from
http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/ ) application under
wine I started to get the following error messages, when wine tries to
create the main window (some windows with questions regarding the trial
version are displayed correctly).

Wine failed with return code 1

Previously the application worked correctly. the problem is associated
either with the upgrade of the wine, or with the upgrade of the xorg X
server (however there is no problem with the native Linux applications).

Subject: The problem disappeared, when I downgraded to the debian/testing (why system has upgraded itself to unstable???)
Date: Thu, 07 Feb 2008 12:44:40 +0100
I'have discovered, that my system has been unintentionally upgraded to
debian/unstable ???!!!

One of the "unofficial" package repositories provided a package, which
put additional
apt source-list into the /etc/apt/sources.list.d, containing the
reference to the packages from the unstable branch (strictly it was
"emdebian-tools" from the http://www.emdebian.org/ ).

To remove the problem, I had to delete the
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/emdebian.sources.list , and then to downgrade
the system back to the testing, creating
the /etc/apt/preferences with the following contents:

# cat /etc/apt/preferences
Package: *
Pin: release a=stable
Pin-Priority: 100

Package: *
Pin: release a=testing
Pin-Priority: 1001

Package: *
Pin: release a=unstable
Pin-Priority: 50

Then I was able to downgrade with some executions of "apt-get
dist-upgrade" and "dselect" (it was necessary to remove temporarily
some packages, to make the downgrade possible).

So now I have the wine in version: 0.9.44-1
And the xserver: xserver-xorg-video-intel in version: 2:2.1.0-2

and everything works as perfectly, as before...

Since this version is not an official Debian package, and installing one
apparently solved the issue for the time being, I'll close this report.
