Hi,

demac has some bugs with v3.97 format files. I would recommend merging
in patches from ffmpeg and making a seperate product.

Hi,

I've been pointed to the Debian task here:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=462740#10

where you say that there are problems with v3.97 files in demac.

Do you have any more details? I've been contacted by someone else this
morning who has given me a sample file that causes a divide-by-zero
error in the entropy decoder, and ffmpeg also fails to decode it.

Your comment makes it sound like ffmpeg have fixed some bugs in demac -
can you point me to specifics?

Thanks,

Dave.

Thanks Dave. William, do you have any more details? Unless there are
large objections, I'm going to begin packaging this up. Even if there
are known bugs, it sounds like the author is communicative and willing
to fix them.

Oh, and the version will be 0~svn15320-1, not 0~svn16176-1, as 16176
was the revision of the entire Rockbox archive at the time, while
15320 is the revision of the demac directory. For those interested,
the locations are at:

svn://svn.rockbox.org/rockbox/trunk/apps/codecs/demac
http://svn.rockbox.org/viewvc.cgi/trunk/apps/codecs/demac/

noowner 462740
thanks

Hi,

This is an automatic email to change the status of demac back from ITP
(Intent to Package) to RFP (Request for Package), because this bug hasn't seen
any activity during the last 18 months.

If you are still interested in adopting demac, please send a mail to
<control@bugs.debian.org> with:

retitle 462740 ITP: demac -- A decoder for Monkey's Audio (APE) lossless files
 owner 462740 !
 thanks

However, it is not recommended to keep ITP for a long time without acting on
the package, as it might cause other prospective maintainers to refrain from
packaging that software. It is also a good idea to document your progress on
this ITP from time to time, by mailing <462740@bugs.debian.org>.

Thank you for your interest in Debian,
