icedove opens a gnome-www-browser-window for every url. this includes
the checking for updates for the extensions and embedded images in
html-mails. also rdf-feeds don't work. the feeds aren't being updated
and the webpages, to which the feed refers is being loaded in a
browser-window.
Going back to 2.0.0.6-1 fixes this issue.

This is occuring for me too. Every URL Icedove opens is actually being
opened in Iceweasel. This includes the background checks for extension
updates it appears.

I experienced the same problem, i.e., opening of RDF pages when checking 
for updates for extensions, after having upgraded from 
2.0.0.6.1 to 2.0.0.9-2.  There is a workaround for a similar 
(possibly the same?) bug here

Thanks for the bugs. As a workaroung you should remove just the
following line in /etc/icedove/pref/icedove.js:

 pref("network.protocol-handler.external.http", true);
