Subject: RM: octave2.9 [all] -- RoM; Superseded by octave3.0
Date: Mon, 24 Dec 2007 12:48:33 +0100
[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

Please, remove the following packages from unstable (all architectures):

octave - GNU Octave language for numerical computations (2.9 branch)
octave2.9 - GNU Octave language for numerical computations (2.9 branch)
octave2.9-doc - PDF documentation on the GNU Octave language (2.9 branch)
octave2.9-emacsen - Emacs support for the GNU Octave language (2.9 branch)
octave2.9-headers - header files for the GNU Octave language (2.9 branch)
octave2.9-htmldoc - HTML documentation on the GNU Octave language (2.9 branch)
octave2.9-info - GNU Info documentation on the GNU Octave language (2.9 branch)

which are generated fromt the octave2.9 source package.

All these packages are now superseded by the respective octave3.0* ones,
which provide/replace/confict with them.

The Upstream 2.9.* series of Octave was actually a pre-release series for 3.0.

Thanks,

Rafael Laboissière, in the behalf of the Debian Octave Group

Thanks for your quick reaction. We were aware of those dependencies. The
Debian Octave Group is working on upgrading all dependencies from octave2.9
to octave3.0. We will send a reminder when it is ready.
