It takes about a minute to login with ldm to a remote server. It takes
the same time no mater which session I choose. Even if I choose
"failsafe xterm" it takes about a minute for xterm to apear. After that
things work just fine. I found that this issue was fixed for python
version of LDM (http://bugs.skolelinux.no/show_bug.cgi?id=1010), here it
apears to be the same problem.

does this problem appear when using ldm 5.0.8debian3 (currently in
lenny)?

i believe that the newer LDM still sets up an xauth file, as it's now
needed to support local devices.

wondering if there is a DNS issue, and the minute delay is DNS timing
out when LDM is sshing to the server...

i have not experienced these sorts of delays once the login screen is
present, though i have seen it occasionally take some time to get to the
login screen.
