Package: coretemp

Severity: wishlist

GPL licensed code to read cpu temperature using msr registers (need "msr" to be loaded in /etc/modules or through "modprobe msr"). No need for additional packages such as lm-sensors. Coretemp has been tested on Intel QuadCore Q6600 with success.

Seems this stuff is obsolete now?
The URL reads:

It seems like coretemp has made its way to the kernel and can nowadays be found in /drivers/hwmon/coretemp.c

URLs:

http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=tree;f=drivers/hwmon

http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=blob_plain;f=drivers/hwmon/coretemp.c

The request/wishlist remains regarding making coretemp into its own package so one can just "apt-get install coretemp".

Kind Regards
Apachez

retitle 438549 RFP: coretemp -- Get CPU temperatures through MSR registers
noowner 438549
thanks

Hi,

This is an automatic email to change the status of coretemp back from ITP
(Intent to Package) to RFP (Request for Package), because this bug hasn't seen
any activity during the last 6 months.

If you are still interested in adopting coretemp, please send a mail to
<control@bugs.debian.org> with:

retitle 438549 ITP: coretemp -- Get CPU temperatures through MSR registers
 owner 438549 !
 thanks

However, it is not recommended to keep ITP for a long time without acting on
the package, as it might cause other prospective maintainers to refrain from
packaging that software. It is also a good idea to document your progress on
this ITP from time to time, by mailing <438549@bugs.debian.org>.

Thank you for your interest in Debian,

I'm closing this RFP since this kernel module is now in the upstream
kernel and part of Debian's kernel packages.
