Now that flashplugin-nonfree and nspluginwrapper are available in Debian
for amd64 users, it would be great if we could get an ia32 package of
libasound2-plugins on amd64 to allow people who use esd/pulse to get audio from
the Flash plugin. This may also require another build of libpulse, so if
this wishlist report should be reassigned please feel free to do so.
Thanks!

I'm also using a x86_64-system with a 32-bit Flash plugin in
nspluginwrapper. Until this morning, Flash didn't have sound.
However, I just upgraded to pulseaudio 0.9.7-1 (from unstable)(yes, I
know that is stupid :P), and it suddenly Just Works through padsp. So
I guess you should have a little more patience until pulseaudio (>=
0.9.7-1) makes it to testing, or just install it right now from
unstable.
Sincerely,
Stijn van Drongelen

Looking at it, it seems that the proper solution to this would be to
build a lib$(bits)asound2-plugins package wherever alsa-lib builds a
lib$(bits)asound2 package. If so, I'll look at extracting the
necessary multiarch voodoo from alsa-lib (which doesn't seem too
complicated) and adding it here.
Would such a patch be accepted?

[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
Tags: patch
Here's a patch, tested on i386 & AMD64 sid, importing the multi-arch
magic from libasound2.
The BIARCH_TEMPLIBDIR voodoo is there for two reasons:
1) pkg-config doesn't know the difference between archs, so configure
always detects the presence of jack, pulse, & dbus, but then the build
can't find a library of the appropriate bit-ness.
2) ia32-libs doesn't have dev symlinks, so the build fails to link
against the 32bit libpulse for example.
So we detect whether a version of lib{pulse, jack, dbus-1} exists. If
so, we add a .so symlink to it in BIARCH_TEMPLIBDIR and copy the
pkgconfig file there as well.
Thus the package has the maximum possible functionality where the libs
exist (AMD64), and the build still works where they don't (everything
else, it seems).

I haven't tested this at all, but a look through the patch reveals it is as
insane as the original alsa-lib stuff. Meaning that it's probably good to go.
:)
We can test it in our next experimental upload.
