(network-admin:29688): Liboobs-WARNING **: There was an unknown error
communicating with the backends: Message did not receive a reply
(timeout by message bus)

network-admin then shows a completely empty dialog. No interfaces, no
host settings, no location, no DNS, nothing.

The actual system has static eth0, DNS and is working fine.

Also tried on a powerpc laptop that has eth0 and eth2 (wireless) and
network-admin fails with the same error and a similar empty dialogue
box. (The laptop is similar config but does not have resolvconf
installed).

This is a known bug in libnet-dbus-perl; the workaround is to downgrade
dbus to 1.0.x. I'm not reassigning the bug to avoid receiving further
 reports.

Hi,

Shouldn't system-tools-backends depend on a version of
libnet-dbus-perl that works? Also, shouldn't
gnome-system-tools depend on system-tools-backends?
