When I open a second document, OOo start a new process showed in KDE bar that is finished automatically after ~20 seconds.
I don't understnad why this process is started and my cursor mouse is showed as BUSY in this 20 seconds. I need 3 seconds to load this second document, but OOo show BUSY cursor mouse and process in KDE bar more than 20 seconds!

And with the 2.2.1 Debian packages? (As you use stable, you might want to try
the backport on www.backports.org)

Rene, OpenOffice.Org (version 2.2.1-1~bpo.1) from backports.org still
have the same problem as OOo 2.0.4 from Etch.
This problem don't appear on OOo 2.2.1 from www.openoffice.org converted
from RPM to .DEB with alien as I say in my last e-mail.

Hmm. Yeah. But this *still* is not the right place for reporting bugs
against bpo versions. *Especially* because this bug talks about
something completely else anyway (the window behaviour).

I'll look at that.
Next time please a) report bugs where they belong (bpo issues are *NOT*
in the scope of this BTS) and b) do not poste arbitraty infos like these
to a bugreport dealing with something else but file a new one.

Works under Etchs GNOME. The desktop file *is* correctly in the location
the standard says (/usr/share/applications).
And it's also there on Etchs KDE (I extra installed it for you and broke
my whole movie stuff with it due to arts doing crap...).
You are *sure* -writer is installed for you?
So this is a non-existing bug.
Anyway, do *NOT* reply to this bug, if you want to discuss that, we can
do that elsewhere, but the Debian BTS is *not* for bpo stuff. Especially
as this bug refers to something completely else than the menu icons.

Just tried on KDE/etch on my laptop. Works fine, of course it opens a
new window in the task pane but it doesn't take more then it takes to
open it.
Works at home, too (GNOME/sid, but I'd bet KDE/sid would be the same,
but as you use etch...)

Try:
- Open a new document.
- Don't close it.
- Open a second document.
When you load this second document (with first document opened too), OOo
start a new window in task panel and still appear after second document
is opened.
This new window in task panel close after 30 seconds (and I need only 2
seconds to open this second document).
Pls, comment.

Pls, confirm if you open this documents with left-click (mouse) and
*don't* by menu File --> Open.
This problem only appear if you open a second document using mouse
(left-click).

Why so much fuzz about a minor bug?
It won't get fixed in etch in any case anyway as it's not
release-critical.

I thought I already replied to your last mail saying that I
can reproduce this with double clicking on a document (which IMHO is a
minor bug then, as you have Ooo already open and can as well use
File->Open, but anyway)

I can reproduce this on KDE and GNOME in etch. Not on sid but that might
either be a timing problem or this really got fixed in sid. Will try
with KDE on sid once it works again on my machine....

Sorry, but I don't receive this e-mail with comment about double-click.

I agree that is not a release-critical, but is very unconfortable open 5
documents and see 10 windows in task bar and wait 30 seconds to navigate
between this files.
Why I open with double-click? Because I can't open this documents
(shared files in Windows Server) directly by address
smb://yamane@pegasus/engineering/ (OOo says "document not found").
To open this files I open it from a link named "shared" in my Desktop:
$ cat Shared.desktop
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Icon=samba
Type=Link
URL=smb://yamane@pegasus/engineering/

bpo is not exactly in the scope of this BTS, but ok. But it upgraded
*all* important packages to 2.3.1?

Indeed:
rene@frodo:~/Debian/Pakete/OpenOffice.org$ dpkg --contents
openoffice.org-core_2.3.1-2~bpo40+1_amd64.deb | grep sal
-rw-r--r-- root/root 16472 2007-12-18 01:39
./usr/lib/openoffice/program/libuno_salhelpergcc3.so.3
-rw-r--r-- root/root 2004640 2007-12-18 01:39
./usr/lib/openoffice/program/libuno_sal.so.3
lrwxrwxrwx root/root 0 2007-12-18 01:38
./usr/lib/openoffice/program/libsalhelpergcc3.so.3 ->
libuno_salhelpergcc3.so.3
lrwxrwxrwx root/root 0 2007-12-18 01:38
./usr/lib/openoffice/program/libsal.so.3 -> libuno_sal.so.3
Looks like a local problem for me. fs broken?

I can't install Lenny only to test OOo, so I install it from backports.org

I don't know why, but when I run "#aptitude -t etch-backports install
openoffice.org" the package openoffice.org-core_2.3.1-2~bpo40+1 is not
downloaded (I try this 3 times, after run "aptitude clean" each time)

I need download openoffice.org-core (1:2.3.1-2~bpo40+1) and install with
dpkg, because it not installed automaticaly with "aptitude -t
etch-backports install openoffice.org"
And... the problem about background process in KDE bar when you open 2
documents with left double click (mouse) still don't is fixed.
I don't see this problem if I install tar.gz from www.openoffice.org

Please, don't forget this bug (opened in 9 months ago), because it is
FULL reproducible (ONLY in Debian Package - *not* from Openoffice.Org
Site) and is VERY UNCONFORTABLE to work with this bug in
commercial/office environment.
Maybe Home users can live with this bug, but in commercial environment
is very unconfortable. Our employees open 3-4 files in same time (with
double click) and Debian-OOo open 6-8 process in KDE bar and finish only
after 30 sec.

Could you update the bug report with the info about your debain/kde
versions ?
output of "dpkg -l | grep openoffice" and "dpkg -l | grep kde" will be
the best.

I'm using KDE available in Debian Etch 4.0r3 (kdebase package is
3.5.5a.dfsg.1-6etch2)
About OpenOffice.Org from *Debian Team*:
Release 2.0.4 = This bug is full reproducible
Release 2.2.1 = This bug is full reproducible
Release 2.3.1 = This bug is full reproducible
If I download the SAME version from www.openoffice.org and install in my
Debian Etch 4.0r3, the problem is UNREPRODUCIBLE. So the problem is with
OpenOffice compiled by Debian Team.
