Package: kaffeine
Version: 0.8.4-2
Severity: important
After the update to kaffeine 0.8.4-3 or kaffeine 0.8.4-4 kaffeine
crashes as soon as its trying to access libxine (either trying to
play video or just entering the xine configuration settings dialog).
Downgrading to kaffeine 0.8.4-2 fixes this problem.
Entering xine configuration setting has the following backtrace
(the video playing one looks the same):

Yes, see $subject, while 0.8.4-2 is fine, both 0.8.4-3 and 0.8.4-4
show this bug.

I experience this crash as well, but only if using the opengl video
output plugin. Switching to xv eliminates the problem.
In any case, there would appear to be an incompatibility between the XCB
support (which is what changed in 0.8.4-3) and the opengl plugin.
Cheers,
Christopher Martin

Right, I also use the opengl video output plugin. xv doesn't work for me
and xshm is very slow.

This is indeed the case. The only xcb-capable plugins in xine-lib are xv and
xshm at the moment.
Adding support for non-xcb plugins (at kaffeine) would cause various issues to
reappear so I try to avoid that. Porting the opengl plugin to xcb is an evil
thing (mainly because of mesa). Hmm - but I'll do more investigations about
this issue later ... :)

Dear submitter,
Sometime ago you file a bug report against kaffeine in the Debian Bug Tracking
System, mainly the 0.8.x series.
http://bugs.debian.org/kaffeine
As a result we now have a large number of outstanding reports open in the
Debian Bug Tracking System that are upstream bugs and should be reported
against the KDE bugs tracking system.
Could I ask you to upgrade to the kaffeine in unstable (1.0~pre3) and confirm
your report is still current.
1. If your original report is still valid, please submit an update using the
reportbug(1) package, detailing the issue currency.
1.a. If possible could you review the upstream reports against kaffeine and
see if your report has already been reported upstream.
http://kaffeine.kde.org/?q=bugs again submit an update using reportbug(1)
providing the KDE bugs URL. Also please feel to report your issue directly
upstream.
2. If your original report has been resolved, please send an email to
xxxx-done@bugs.debian.org, where xxxx is your bug number, stating that your
issue has been resolved.
If we don't hear back from you in the next month or so, we may close your
report as fixed in the version 1.0 series.
Thanks,
Mark

Nothing heard.
If this is still an issue, please reopen and provide moreinfo as requested in May.
