Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Dear developers,

I am looking for co-maintainers for the tikiwiki package. This is a
rather complex web application written in PHP, and I feel that I don't
have enough time to maintain it on my own.

The first packaged version (1.9.2) is currently in experimental. It is
basically working but has a few issues that need to be ironed out. In
addition, it needs to be upgraded to version 1.9.3.2, which fixes
security bugs.

The packaging work is somewhat tricky for the following reasons:

*In the Debian package, I have attempted to split out those modules in
the upstream source tree that are already in Debian.

*It was necessary to deviate from upstream's directory layout to
conform to Debian policy.

*The package uses dbconfig-common to simplify database creation and
 management.

I think it should be possible to work along these lines to turn this
into a working, high-quality package.

From the package description:

Tiki CMS/Groupware, also known as TikiWiki, can be used to create all
sorts of web applications, web sites or portals. It offers a very
large number of features and is highly configurable and modular. All
features are administered through a web-based interface.

Thanks,

Marcus

With a name like "TikiWiki", it seems only appropriate that if you do get
co-maintainers, you should request teletubbies.alioth.debian.org.

;)

I am looking for someone to take over maintenance of Tikiwiki.

The package works nicely and does not take much time to maintain. However I
don't use it anymore, and also I'm a bit frustrated with the lack of progress
upstream on the a long-standing RC bug, a licensing issue [3] related to
non-free icons. (Upstream has expressed intention to replace those icons with
free ones.)

The package has had a string of security issues [1], and security fixes were
not always coordinated with packagers in a timely manner.

There is an Alioth project [2] and a mailing list for coordinating the
packaging, but nobody has been willing to work on it much.

Unless someone steps forward to maintain it, I am going to shut down the
Alioth project and possibly request removal of the package from the archive
due to the unresolved licensing issue.

Marcus

In case a non-DD maintainer wants to take over tikiwiki, I can keep
sponsoring the package if desired.

I am requesting the removal of tikiwiki from unstable. The reasons are:
*There are license issues [1] which haven't been resolved for a long time.
*The package had lots of security issues and I don't have any reason to
believe that the situation will improve in the future.
*The package is orphaned.

See the previous messages in this bug report for more details.

Thanks,

Marcus

We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:

  tikiwiki | 1.9.7+dfsg-2 | source, all

Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive (ftp-master.debian.org) and will not propagate to any
mirrors (ftp.debian.org included) until the next cron.daily run at the
earliest.

Packages are never removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems.

Bugs which have been reported against this package are not automatically
removed from the Bug Tracking System. Please check all open bugs and
close them or re-assign them to another package if the removed package
was superseded by another one.

Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to 427655@bugs.debian.org.

This message was generated automatically; if you believe that there is
a problem with it please contact the archive administrators by mailing
