Package: gmailfs
Severity: normal
Hi,
gmailfs is uninstalable.
It requires python-fuse > 2.2-2 but this is not compatible with the version
available on the mirror. (maybe related to versionning policy of some python
packages).
I got:
Building dependency tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
gmailfs: Depends: python-fuse (>= 2.2-2) but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

You misunderstood dpkg's message: trying to explicitely "apt-get
install python-fuse" would have told you that the new python-fuse
conflicts with gmails <= 0.7.3: the upstream author is working on
getting it to work with that latest python-fuse upstream release that
breaks backward-compatibility a bit. I declared this conflict to
prevent breakages for people who already have gmailfs.
Cheers,

Well for me, apt-get upgrade just uninstalled gmailfs, so I think that
counts as breakage.

if you're running sid, you need to 'apt-get upgrade -s' before
upgrading, as a rule of thumb; that way you would have noticed that
apt-get felt like removing gmailfs because of the new python-fuse. The
fact that you blindly upgrade on unstable cannot be accounted for as a
"breakage".
