Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, I discovered that your package
failed to build on i386.

Hi,

it looks to me that this header could be simply dropped from the source,
since due to the B-D, a proper one is available under /usr/include/PCSC.

Moreover, you'll have to replace the obsolete CLK_TCK with
CLOCKS_PER_SEC (I didn't bother about the Windows part of the patched
file).

Once that done, your package builds fine; tagging accordingly.

Cheers,

The amd64 buildd can perfectly reproduce it. I suggest you try and
extract the source package from the .dsc file again.

dpkg-source: warning: ignoring deletion of file ifdhandler.h
[...]

Peter,

You seem to be the only one that is able to actually build this.
Various people have shown that it doesn't work. I've already suggest
that you should try and use the sources as they were uploaded, and that
you're probably using different sources than the rest of us.

Looking at the difference between 2.4.0-7 and 2.4.0-8, the only thing
mentioning ifdhandler.h is the changelog entry about it. The other
2 changes I see in the diff are the other 2 things mentioned in the
changelog.

Looking at your build log, it's also obvious that you deleted it. But
the .diff generated does not reflect that. You can't delete files in
the .diff. You will need to do that in the rules file.

Kurt

My .diff deletes the file fine. So there must be something wrong with
your build process.

The libgcr410_2.4.0-8.diff.gz does not agree with that. It's also a
well know feature that it doesn't do that. Your own log even shows the
warning.

The attached simple patch fixes it. Please apply it.

The warning is a problem of dpkg-source. The diff was generated by hand,
and deletes the file perfectly here.

This is an unacceptable hack which will not be applied.

Cheers,

Peter.

Hi Peter!

I'm not sure what's going on with this bug, but I beg you and the other
people involved to please stop playing the BTS ping pong and try to
understand each other.

I'm sure this is just a mis-understanding, and that we can fix it without
the need of losing anymore of everyone's time.

According to the message you sent on January 31st:

> My .diff deletes the file fine. So there must be something wrong with
> your build process.

I don't know which is "your" .diff, but I suspect it must be differente
from the .diff currently in Debian, which does not delete ifdhandler.h:

==== END PASTE ====

So, as you can see, the source package currently shipped in Debian is not
deleting ifdhandler.h.

If you don't believe this to be true, please do one "apt-get source
libgcr410" in a clean directory and check for yourself.

I'm also attaching a build log of an attempted build inside a cowbuilder,
with the same failure, just in case you think it might be caused by
something else.

The provided patch might be an ugly hack, but it's one of the only ways of
permanently removing a file from the build process. The only other way is
removing the file from the .orig.gz file, thus losing the "pristine
tarball" property.

I hope we can find a solution to this without any more fighting over the
bug's state.
