Package: libgtk2.0-0
Version: 2.10.11-2
Severity: important
Selecting "save as" from iceweasel as well as from gimp or any other gtk2-app brings up a
constantly resizing save-dialog. Mouse-input seems impossible, Enter-key does nothing at
first, but crashes iceweasel after some more tries, while it occasionally does save in
gimp. All versions are up-to-date unstable.

Thanks for your report.
Could you please :
1. install the libgtk2.0-0-dbg package;
2. launch the problematic application (e.g. iceweasel) and open the
save dialog;
3. in a terminal, run "gdb --pid=`pidof iceweasel`";
4. in the gdb session, type "thread apply all bt full";
5. send us the output.
Please also attach your ~/.gtk-bookmarks file, if not empty.
Cheers,

Thanks for your help.
My ~/.gtk-bookmarks looks like this:
file:///home/m/pictures
file:///home/m/priv
file:///home/m/work
The debug-output is attached for both iceweasel and the GIMP. Hope this
helps.

Thanks, but unfortunately something is going wrong because the traces
are not useful.
Could you please try with libglib2.0-0-dbg installed as well? You can
even install the whole gnome-dbg suite if you have enough room and
bandwidth :)
If it doesn't help, you can try with other applications like gedit.
Thanks,

The problem with the traces is that as soon as I start up the debugger,
the flickering stops and so there is not all that much to debug.
Also, while it happens from within fluxbox, dwm and even plain X, KDE
is not affected at all.
I found this thread fron an Arch-Linux-Forum where several people
report the same problem (including a screenshot), but do not have a solution either:
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=31355
Any ideas what to do now?

That's expected. What I wanted to know is what the program is doing at
that moment, and it needs to be stopped for that.

It seems caused by the window manager indeed. Some people reported
problems with GTK+ in bugzilla. It seems caused by this change:
http://svn.gnome.org/viewcvs/gtk%2B/trunk/gtk/gtkfilechooserdialog.c?r1=16938&r2=17357
If you still have some GTK+ 2.10.9 debs around, you could try whether
reverting to this version fixes the issue.

For me a downgrade to gtk+ 2.10.9 does indeed solve the problem.
Thanks for your help.
So I guess the bug is upstream and not specifically Debian-related.
Any ideas when a fix for the newer gtk will be available?

Hi,
In the previous discussion, it was suggested to fall back to GTK+
2.10.9, you should be able to get it from http://snapshot.debian.net
There's also a patch suggested in the upstream bug report,
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=420285
