PHP 4 should not be included in Lenny, which would require to support it
at least until 2011.

Agreed, but the package has a substantial number of reverse-deps that need
to be attended to first. Here's a start on those...

fyi, i have already brought the subject on the pkg-php and
webapps-common mailing lists a few weeks prior to this, and the general
consensus was that after etch was out the door we would start a
transition process for removing php4 from lenny.
if no one gets a start on things before then, i'll start the planning
some time next week.

Ok, but we first should use all available php maintainer manpower to address
the MOPB issues. While for Sarge it looks relatively moderate, it should be
fixed for Etch rather sooner than later.
Current breakdown available at:
http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/secure-testing/data/mopb.txt?op=file&rev=0&sc=0

Moritz

The php4 package has been removed from Debian testing, unstable and
experimental, so I am now closing the bugs that were still opened
against it.
For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/428266 . That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed, and suggestions of possible replacements.
Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.
Thank you for your contribution to Debian.
