Is there a reason why this can't be a patch to XChat? A whole package
just for this seems like an overkill to me.
Otherwise, I really miss that functionality in XChat.
Some ideas for improvements:
- time before going auto-away should be configurable
- make both auto-away and auto-back optional
- make away/back text optional/configurable
Of course, I don't know if such configuration is at all possible with
XChat, but I thought I'd mention it just in case :)

Hi,
This is an automatic email to change the status of xchat-idle back from ITP
(Intent to Package) to RFP (Request for Package), because this bug hasn't seen
any activity during the last 18 months.
If you are still interested in adopting xchat-idle, please send a mail to
<control@bugs.debian.org> with:
retitle 415641 ITP: xchat-idle -- XChat plugin that marks you /away and /back automatically
owner 415641 !
thanks
However, it is not recommended to keep ITP for a long time without acting on
the package, as it might cause other prospective maintainers to refrain from
packaging that software. It is also a good idea to document your progress on
this ITP from time to time, by mailing <415641@bugs.debian.org>.
Thank you for your interest in Debian,

I'm closing this RFP since the project seems to be dead upstream
since 2005.
Feel free to reopen this bug if I missed anything.
