Subject: quodlibet crashes frequently during play
Date: Sun, 04 Mar 2007 00:54:21 +0200
Package: quodlibet
Version: 0.23.1-1
Severity: important

During play, quodlibet crashes (sometimes during song change, sometimes
while playing). There is no meaningful message shown in the console (I
started it from a console, in hope for some clues shown while crashing).

It must be something going wrong recently, because quodlibet never
crashed before on my system. Today, in one hour of play (mp3 format
involved), I had 4 crashes.

I'll list below the backtrace:

Backtrace was generated from '/usr/X11R6/bin/quodlibet'

It crashes reliably at the end of the first song played on Fedora's
Rawhide as well. It's probably not song change, since my song
selection was set to "One song only". I thought it was Rawhide's
Python 2.5, but it's obviously not the case.

Does Debian have debugging files that you can include? On Fedora you
can install -debuginfo RPMs, this saves you from having to recompile
quodlibet with debugging turned on. Otherwise it's really hard to
trace the crash.

Subject: quodlibet: Quodlibet v1.0-1 crashes during play and at exit
Date: Tue, 23 Oct 2007 10:51:10 -0600
[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
Package: quodlibet
Version: 1.0-1
Followup-For: Bug #413284

After upgrading installed packages to the most recent
version for lenny on 19 October 2007, quodlibet crashes on a
regular basis to the point of making the application
unusable. The quodlibet package itself was not upgraded,
however I have been unable to determine which package
initiated the problems.

There are three types of crashes I have identified:

1) Crash on application exit. This is easily reproducable.
   A sample backtrace from GDB:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
[Switching to Thread 0x2b4e44dcc6e0 (LWP 839)]
    0x000000000049992a in PyThreadState_New ()

    #3 0x00002b4e46de2ff1 in g_datalist_clear () from /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0

    #10 0x00000000004119d9 in _start ()

2) Crash when changing songs. This occurs reliably for some
albums and not at all for others. May be the same cause
   as the next....

3) Random crashes while playing songs. This will occur
rarely for some songs/albums and reliably for others.
Between this crash and that when changing songs (which
may be the same crash), some albums will play no more
than two songs at a time.

A sample GDB backtrace which may be attributed to #2 or #3
above (exactly which is unknown) is listed below. Another
obtained from bug-buddy is attached.

    /usr/share/quodlibet/library/_library.py:162: Warning: g_object_ref: assertion `object->ref_count > 0' failed

Hi guys,

It's been a long time since the last activity on this bug. Can any of
you check to see if this bug still occurs using QuodLibet 2.1 from
unstable? Upstream is active again these days and I'd like to get QL's
bug list under control.

Cheers,
Christine

I've used quodlibet 2.1 for quite some time, and I don't see these
crashes anymore. I presume it got fixed, at least for me.

Anyone knows how to sign-off this mailing list?
E-mailing 'quodlibet-unsubscribe@lists.sacredchao.net' doesn't do nothing, I
swear...
