[PATCH 0/6]
This set of patches fixes all the problems observed so far on
my machines. The biggest one was not doing transmit flow control
correctly.

[sky2-fe-fc.patch (text/x-patch, inline)]
The Yukon-FE chip doesn't do gigabit and has a differen PHY internally.
On this chip, phy status register doesn't properly reflect the result
of flow control negotiation. To workaround the problem and avoid having
to have so much chip dependent code; compute the result of flow control
by looking at the local and remote advertised bits.

Resetting the pause bits on shutdown is not necessary.
The code was inherited from the vendor driver, and it is currently #ifdef'd
out there as well.

Don't mark pause frames as errors. This problem caused transmitter not
to pause and would effectively take out a gigabit switch because the
it can't handle overrun.

but i guess they won't apply to 2.6.18,
plus there were also some other important sky2 patches
from 2.6.18 to 2.6.20

Subject: Sky2 timeout fixes for Etch?
Date: Mon, 15 Oct 2007 10:33:16 +0200
[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
Please consider these patches for inclusion in the 2.6.18 kernel for
Etch.

The current Etch kernel occasionally drops all the sky2 NICs our
customer has off the network and the hosts require a reboot to resolve
the problem.

Given the maturity of the patch, I'm hoping its benefit:risk ratio will
be considered high. I believe the current severity of "important" is
appropriate as per http://www.debian.org/Bugs/Developer#severities, but
realize that this does not always warrant a fix in stable.

Thanks,
Sheldon.
