Subject: pwsafe: 0.2.0-2+b1 removed X11 clipboard support
Date: Wed, 17 Jan 2007 01:02:27 -0800
Package: pwsafe
Version: 0.2.0-2+b1
Severity: normal

The latest version of pwsafe (0.2.0-2+b1) was not built with X11
support. (for that matter, the X11 development libraries are not listed
as dependencies, build or runtime). I dont know if this was done on
purpose but I really like the X11 paste mechanism, so I'm hoping it
was a mistake and happened only because the X11 headers weren't
installed in the build environment, so the autoconf script disabled
X11 support.

I believe pwsafe needs libxmu-headers, x11proto-core-dev and libx11-dev
added as build dependencies. That will allow it to find the X11 header
it is checking for and that will enabled X11 support.

Hi,
Sorry but after a 100-day of total absence of reaction on this bug report,
I feel like saying "me too"!
Please either justify why you removed X11 support or provide an update
with X11 support reintegrated. Thanks.

Phil

The ability to copy passwords from the clipboard to an X application without
having to reveal it onscreen represents a significant feature of this package
and the lack of this feature results in a significantly less useful
application.

Please enable this feature.

hi,

as suggested by Nicolas Dade including libxmu-headers,
11proto-core-dev and libx11-dev in the build dependencies fixes this
issue.

including a patch to document the triviality of fixing this
issue. please upload an improved version soon.

thanks a lot,

rationale for bumping severity: being unable to use passwords from a
password vault without having to disclose them to the eyes of
bystanders has a major effect on the usability of the program.

  Hi,

I had to use the following Build-Depends line to compile pwsafe with
X11 support in a clean pbuilder env. libxmu-dev is needed since
libxmu-headers is not enough.

 Regards,
