Package: rhythmbox
Version: 0.9.7-1
Severity: normal
Hi,
I have noticed that rhythmbox is unable to play songs from a DAAP share, served by mt-daapd in
this particular case.
I have tried both 0.9.6 and 0.9.7 versions from, respectively, unstable and experimental,
but the same problem happens.
The same songs worked OK not so long ago (cannot tell until when exactly), and
nothing has been changed on the server side, and debugging output from mt-daapd doesn't
seem to tell anything interesting.
I first thought this was a gstreamer issue, but cannot find any updates that could have
caused this issue. Further more, banshee can play the songs.
Note that the songs are either MP3 or OGG files, and I have tried to use transcoded or
direct streaming.
Cheers,
Julien

Hi,
You can run rhythmbox in debug mode (with the -d option) and try to
capture any interesting error messages.

Hi Sven,
Please find attached the output from the moment when I want to begin to
play a song (which never happens).
I cannot see any interesting messages, but I am not used to such
debugging output.
Maybe "playback error while playing: Could not open resource for
reading", but it doesn't tell much.
Cheers,
Julien

Hi,
To exclude totally a misconfiguration on the server side, I have tried
with both instances of rhythmbox, each sharing songs, and none wants to
play the songs hosted on the other machine (both test machines are in
unstable, one with rb 0.9.6-5 and the other with 0.9.7).
Cheers,
Julien

Hi,
I just noticed and fixed this problem upstream. The problem was
triggered by a behaviour change in libsoup 2.2.99. The relevant change
is:
http://svn.gnome.org/viewcvs/rhythmbox/trunk/plugins/daap/rb-daap-src.c?rev=4760&r1=4725&r2=4760
enjoy,

Thanks! I've backported the patch to 0.9.6 for people running pure
unstable, but this wont affect the next Debian stable release as
libsoup 2.2.99 didn't make it in.

I confirm this new upload (found in incoming) fixes the issue, with both
versions from unstable and experimental.
Thanks for your help
