Description : control Logitech's MX-Revolution mouse
A small tool for Linux to control the wheel behaviour of
Logitech's MX-Revolution mouse. It lets you switch between
free-spin, click-to-click, manual, and auto mode. For manual
mode you can specify any button to be used for mode switching
and for auto mode you can specify a speed at which free-spin
mode is entered.
About the "licence" (quote of what I've written in d/copyright):
In revoco.c the author claims, his bonobo has written the code,
so no copyright is aviable.
In a private mail about the licence he replied:
Mit Lizenzen hat mein Affe nix am Hut. Wenn du fuer
Debian irgendeine "Lizenz" eintragen willst, waere
"Public Domain" der passende Begriff.
For the non-german readers:
My bonobo does not know anything about liences. If you want to
enter something for Debian, "public domain" would be the best.
I hope this is "okay" for Debian, tell me if not.
First packages can be seen under [1].
Regards
Evgeni Golov

you should ask such things either on -mentors@ or discuss it with your
sponsor.
anyway, please ask upstream to include this in the source-tarball, this
is the most convenient solution. if he doesn't want to do that, you
could include the mail you got into debian/copyright, such as i did e.g.
with kqemu.

As I understand the mail upstream send me, he wants to have this
"bonobo"-nocopyright in the source. I allready quoted the important
part of the mail in d/copyright and my ITP, or should I quote the whole
mail?

Damn, will have to translate it from German :-(

The actual release has the following "copyright" notice:
* Written November 2006 by E. Toernig's bonobo - no copyrights.
*
* Contact: Edgar Toernig <froese@gmx.de>
This is what I meant by "bonobo"-nocopyright, and I don't think he'll
change this to anything different.

quote the whole mail if you have not other unrelated things in it.
does upstream add this copyright header to the source in the next
upstream release?

hmm, not so sure if ftp-masters (although Joerg is German) will like that.

I've attached the copyright-file which includes all the important
(licence related) parts of the mail.
If this is okay, I would like to ask for sponsorship.

The ITP is still open, and I have working packages for 0.4 here. You
can fetch the source via
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/r/revoco/revoco_0.4-1.dsc
and upload it, if you think the package is okay (it should be lintian
and linda clean, and only have some comments in rules because I used
to install revoco suid-root, but removed it for now).
Regards
Evgeni

After getting a REJECT because of the copyright, and upstream does not
want to change that (whyever), I am no longer interested in maintaining
this package. If someone is interested in my work, contact me and
you'll get my diff.gz.

Hello,
This is an automatic mail sent to close this RFP.
Your RFP wnpp bug is being closed because of the following reasons:
- It hasn't seen any activity for the last 18 months.
- The amount of RFPs on the Debian BTS is huge and we need to
clean up a bit the place.
As this an automatic procedure, it could of course have something
wrong and probably it would be closing some bugs that are not intended
by owners and submitters to be closed, for example if the RFP is still
of your interest, or there has been some kind of activity around it.
In that case, please do not hesitate to reopen the bug!
To re-open it, you simply have to mail control@bugs.debian.org
with a body text like this:
reopen 123456
thanks bts
Replacing '123456' for the number of your RFP bug. The subject of the
mail is ignored. Or if you have any kind of problems when dealing with
the BTS, feel free to contact me and I'd be more than happy to help
you on this: <lucas@debian.org>.
Thanks for your cooperation,
