Package: network-manager-kde
Version: 1:0.1-2
Severity: important
Hi!
After starting up KDE, KNetworkManager pops up the password dialog for
KWallet. I enter the correct password, and KNetworkManager just hangs.
The icon in the systray is gone, although the space where it used to be
is still unavailable for other icons. In .xsession-errors, I get the
following lines:
DCOPServer::DCOPReplyDelayed for unknown connection.
Corrupt data!
Corrupt data!
DCOPServer failure: object '' has no function '(null)'
X Error: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) 3
Major opcode: 20
Minor opcode: 0
Resource id: 0xc00061
The workaround is to `kill <pid_of_knetworkmanager>` and to restart it.
Afterwards, it works just as expected.
Thanks for looking into this! Regards,
Georg

Hi Georg,
could you please install
http://debs.michaelbiebl.de/knetworkmanager/network-manager-kde_0.1-3~test1_i386.deb
and test if that version fixes your problem.
Thanks,
Michael

Unfortunately, the problem persists. There is a slight variation however: The
icon of KNetworkManager already disappears while the KWallet dialog is
visible. After entering the password, it still hangs, but this time with
three knetworkmanager processes:
[...]
3830 ? S 0:00 knetworkmanager [kdeinit] -session
107661696f00011543
[...]
3852 ? S 0:00 knetworkmanager [kdeinit]
3854 ? Z 0:00 [knetworkmanager] <defunct>
[...]
Killing first 3852 and then 3830 results in the following output
in .xsession-errors:
DCOPServer::DCOPReplyDelayed for unknown connection.
Corrupt data!

DCOPServer failure: object '' has no function '(null)'

DCOP aborting call from 'anonymous-4124' to 'knetworkmanager'

If you want to compile a package with just debugging output, I'd be happy to
test that one, too.

Strange, the packages I provided have session management disabled. So
the above should not happen. Try to kill all knetworkmanager instances
and then logout/login again. There should only one instance of
knetworkmanager be running.

I killed all instances of knetworkmanager, restarted one new instance of your
test1 package, did KMenu -> Save Session, logged out/in, and now everything
works fine. Feels indeed like something was left over from the session
management of an earlier version.
I consider this bug fixed. Thanks a lot for your quick help!

Hi,
this bug is not solved on my side. I'm running "lenny", hence KNetworkManager
0.1-4. I can still find the same messages in .xsession-errors as described by
Georg.
Is there a way to reactivate this bug report or should I file a new one?
Thanks,
Oliver

Hi Oliver,
the upcoming 0.2 has seen several changes in the way it accesses
kwallet. Could you please test the svn snapshot from [1] and try if you
can reproduce this bug.
Thanks,
Michael

Oh, sorry for that. I missed that you run lenny. I could have built a
package with lenny dependencies. Next time, please shout loud ;-)
