Subject: sl-modem-source: slmodem.log.modem:1 log file is corrupted

Version : sl-modem-2.9.9d+e-pre2 from the source package
Kernel : 2.6.18.2

The log file slmodem.log.modem:1 created by the slmodemd daemon (#slmodemd
- c FRANCE --alsa -l &) is corrupted.
The begining is right, but suddenly the file contains a long pattern of
points, followed with the right information again.
Consequence : this log file reaches a size of more than 170kB after one modem connection, whereas the useful information only takes some tens of kB

The SIL27 (Si 3036/8, rev7) AMR modem works fine, despite of this
trouble.

See the attached file below (only the beginning of this long file):

Hello people,

this bug report confuses me. There are two options for loging, -l and -d
and none does explain what actually is logged somewhere. And the default
-d value seems to be 1 and not 0. And even with 0 it seems to dump data
into the logfile, AFAICS the structs with some "headers". But why? Which
option is intended to provide human readable logs? What was the author's
idea of bug writting filter... using macros, or use if() contiditions
everywhere, or both? Questions about questions...
