Subject: libadns1: Cannot query IPv6 DNS servers
Date: Wed, 23 Aug 2006 23:07:26 +0300
Package: libadns1
Version: 1.1-4
Severity: important

libadns1 fails loudly when /etc/resolv.conf contains IPv6 addresses as
recursive DNS servers. This renders the whole library unusable with such
configurations.

Setting severity to important as per release goal.

thanks

Hi,
the attached patch add support for both IPv6 nameservers and IPv6 AAAA
entries. I've already tried it standalone and via wireshark and it is
correctly working.

I've built preliminary packages[0] for both i386[1] and amd64[2] for
your convenience. Please note that those are raw packages not ready to
be uploaded and could be still a bit messed up :)

A copy of this patch is also available for reference on the web[3], and
the entire git branch on github[4].

Ciao, Luca

I tested the patch on two clients, one with native IPv6 and one with
a tunnel, not that it would make any difference. It works fine.
Thanks, Luca.

Please provide an updated package and consider pushing this fix
through stable-proposed-updates.

Thanks,
