Hi,

A Debian Developer gave the following suggestion on
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DCT (the homepage for Ubuntu's Debian
Collaboration Team) :

Something like the Debian QA Packages (developer.php) overview would be
immensely useful. What versions of "my packages" are where in Ubuntu,
who can see that the important bugfixes I just uploaded to Debian end
  up in Ubuntu.

While I fully understand that some people will think that such a thing
has nothing to do on a debian.org service, I think that this information
should be integrated into the DDPO, because it's where it will be the
most useful for Debian maintainers interested in the status of their
packages in Ubuntu.

Of course, it doesn't have to be enabled by default, thus limiting the
flamewar potential of such a feature.

After discussing this a bit with Christoph Berg, here is how, ideally,
it would work :
- It would list the version of packages in both Ubuntu Dapper (stable
version) and Ubuntu Edgy (development version) (this will have to be
updated every 6 month)
- It would provide some links to the useful resources regarding the
packages in the ubuntu world (DD might have problems understanding
where to look to find some additional info).

Sources.gz files can be rsynced from archive.ubuntu.com::ubuntu/dists/
You'd need to fetch them for both dapper and edgy, and for all four
sections (main, restricted, universe, multiverse). The Ubuntu mirror
push happens every hour.

Relevant sources of information:

Launchpad page for each source package:

Hi Lucas,

Thank you for working on this.

I think that the problem is that DDPO is already very heavily loaded.
While I'm not that particular to what host it is on, I'd prefer if the
non-Debian information was somewhere else but easily reached.

Kind regards

My current plan is to have a list of additional distributions that is
configurable for opt-in/out, also including backports.org that is
already shown now. Ubuntu would be disabled per default, bpo probably
enabled. That way we can easily add more derivatives and still not
clutter the display for the "default" user.

Well, you (as in DDPO maintainers) have been doing a good job of
balancing clutter and information richness. As I've pointed out to Lucas
in private mail, in the end, I'd like to get two pages, one for Debian
only and one for/with Ubuntu information.
Given that Ubuntu uses different bug reporting and tracking,
maintainership concepts and such, I'm not quite sure how you want to
integrate that into "regular", unforked DDPO, but then, you've come up
with ingenious solutions so far.

Note that the lack of a good contact information has bugged me also for bpo.

Kind regards

So far I only intend to list the Ubuntu versions just like it is done
for all additional package versions (bpo/incoming/volatile/whatever).
This would be a link to the launchpad page. (Please point me to a
better place if there is one.)

If we want more integration/information, this should be done in the
PTS. This would probably require to dynamically render the pages
there, or at least a reordering of the layout such that the left
column doesn't overflow.

A mere link to that page ;)
