Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Heikki Henriksen <heikkih@gmail.com>
Package name : mugshot
Version : 1.1.5
Upstream Author : Mugshot Developers (http://developer.mugshot.org/)
URL : http://mugshot.org
License : GPL-2 & Mugshot Client License Agreement
Programming Lang: C
Description : Client for integration between Mugshot and the Linux desktop
Mugshot is an open project to create a live social experience around
entertainment. See http://mugshot.org
.
Mugshot is currently in limited trial so most users won't have access
and the client will be useless to them.
.
Right now, the Linux Mugshot client can:
* display an icon in the status area with a menu to access active web
shares and your home page
* display pop up bubbles for incoming notifications
* handle Mugshot chat rooms that the user opens from the browser
* keeps track of your currently playing music (Rhythmbox only so far)
Note:
I don't plan to upload this until the trial has expanded
significantly or the project has been opened up for everyone.
The Mugshot Client License Agreement also puts restrictions on
distributing modified copies using the Mugshot trademark. I am currently
in dialogue with upstream to find a solution on this.

Hey,
I made some packages for the mugshot client here:
http://people.ubuntu.com/~jdub/edgy/
They work on dapper, probably no huge reason why they wouldn't work on sid.
Thanks,
- Jeff

Apart from newer libloudmouth1-0 and dbus in sid, which makes it
un-installable on Debian.
My packages, built with current unstable, are available for now at:
http://media.heitech.no/debian/build/mugshot
Jeff, I even took a quick glance at your package when doing it.
Thanks ;)
Cheers,
Heikki

Hello,
This is an automatic mail sent to close the ITP you have reported or
are involved with.
Your ITP wnpp bug is being closed because of the following reasons:
- It is, as of today, older than 365 days.
- It hasn't had any activity recently.
As this is an automatic procedure, it could of course have something
wrong and probably it would be closing some bugs that are not
intended by owners and submitters (like you) to be closed, for
example if the ITP is still of your interest, or there has been
some kind of activity around it. In that case, please reopen the
bug, do it, DO IT NOW! (I don't want to be blamed because of
mass closing and not let people know that they can easily reopen
their bugs ;-).
To re-open it, you simply have to mail control@bugs.debian.org
with a body text like this:
reopen 373571
stop
Further comments on the work done in the bug sent to
373571@bugs.debian.org would be truly welcomed.
Anyway, if you have any kind of problems when dealing with
the BTS, feel free to contact me and I'd be more than happy to help
you on this: <damog@debian.org>.
A similar process is being applied to other kind of wnpp bugs.
Thanks for your cooperation,

Hi,
Can I take this ITP? Let me know, if there is no response from
original owner in some days, I wish to own this one:)
Thanks,

Hiya Kartik.
Feel free to take over the package if you want. I've kept an up-to-date
version available at http://svn.debian.org/~heikkih-guest/mugshot/ since
the start of the project.
see http://developer.mugshot.org/wiki/Downloads#Debian_Unstable
Be aware of the restrictions in the Mugshot Trademark Guidelines (see
LICENSE and http://mugshot.org/trademark )
Limited time to deal with this issue and looking for a sponsor for the
package are the reasons it's not in the archive yet, but I've got no
problem with you taking over the work if you want to.
Cheers :)

Hi Heikki,
I saw that and wondering why this package is not in Debian yet. You
mention that you are talking with upstream about License issue, any
progress on it?

As I said above, if this doesn't fit in main, we can move it to non-free ?

What about joint work? I also have to look for Sponsors :)

Mostly because I've been busy with work and other aspects of RL for a
while, so my time for Debian has been quite limited :(

Upstream changed the Trademark Guidelines to be quite better for us than
at first, but I haven't gone through the newest version in detail. It
might be good enough to go into main, so if you can take that part from
here it would be great.
