Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal
with the help of Raphael Hertzog, I am rewriting the package wims.
The upstream author has made modifications since the older wims Debian
package, and his new system of packaging makes obsolete the national
modules : as the compression is more effective for trees which contain
many files sharing similar codes, and as the localisation of wims makes
many redundant files, one package containing every modules is much
lighter that the sum of module packages for every language.
I addition, part of the features of the core of wims have been encoded
in some "system" modules which are part of the package wims-modules.
So, now the core wims package needs the package wims-modules, and
the package wims-modules provides wims-modules-fr.
This is why the older wims-modules-fr debian Package should be removed.
Best regards, Georges.

I'm assuming that these changes are contained in the versions of wims
currently in NEW. If that's the case then the older (no longer built)
packages will be semi-automatically removed in the first run of the
archive tool "rene" after the NEW packages are accepted.

No, wims-modules-fr is a separate source package... otherwise I wouldn't
have asked Georges to file this bug.
BTW, wims is out of new so the package can be safely removed now.

Message #22 received at 370798-close@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:
wims-modules-fr | 3.28-2 | source, all
Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive (ftp-master.debian.org) and will not propagate to any
mirrors (ftp.debian.org included) until the next cron.daily run at the
earliest.
Packages are never removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems.
Bugs which have been reported against this package are not automatically
removed from the Bug Tracking System. Please check all open bugs and
close them or re-assign them to another package if the removed package
was superseded by another one.
Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to 370798@bugs.debian.org.
This message was generated automatically; if you believe that there is
a problem with it please contact the archive administrators by mailing
