[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 6.9.0.dfsg.1-4

While working in KWrite, X died unexpectedly. It stopped responding;
then a few seconds later, the screen blanked out, and it would no
longer respond to keystrokes (e.g. Ctrl+Alt+F1).

I was able to ssh in and grab the Xorg.0.log file, which is attached here.

Attempts to restart X are not working. The server is dying with a
similar error, with a few numbers changed.

This happened again today, but this time I was browsing a web page in Konqueror.

The crash report is slightly different this time, and I'm now running
xserver-xorg 6.9.0.dfsg.1-6.

At this point, restarting X (over ssh) does not work. The screen is
cleared of the garbage left behind when X crashed, but it stays black,
and there's still no response at the local keyboard.

The only solution I've found is to reboot the machine.

I didn't attach the output of "lspci" last time. Here is the brief version:

This has been happening to me as well (about every other day), usually while running Firefox. Is there any new status for this? I can find little information about "Active ring not flushed". Attached is the X server log, in case it helps.

Hi,

About a year ago, you reported (or replied to) a bug in the Debian BTS
regarding the Xorg server dying with the i810 driver with error "Active
ring not flushed". Did any of you guys reproduce this problem recently?
With Xorg/Etch? With latest xserver-xorg-core and drivers? If not, I
will close this bug in the next weeks.

Thanks,
Brice

Hi Brice,

I no longer use the machine where I saw this bug, so unfortunately I
can't tell you whether the problem still exists.

It still happens occasionally (once every 2 weeks), so I waited to get a fresh crash before replying. It only has the fatal error when running firefox (and now when running ice-weasel). Attached is the log of the latested crash.

Ok, thanks. I see you are running a regular Debian 2.6.18 kernel with
xserver-xorg-core 1.3. If you didn't already try, you could possibly try
xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.0.0-5 currently in experimental, but I
don't really expect much. There are very few i810 chipsets out there, so
it's unlikely to be fixed.

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1794 seems to talk about
the same problem, with 2.6.8 or .9 kernels. I'll post a comment there.

I installed the version you mentioned right away, it ran fine up until today, when it crashed again.

Does this still happen with latest intel driver in unstable
or experimental?

As I mentioned previously...

I no longer have this hardware in my possession, so I'm unable to
re-test. Sorry.

Oops sorry, I missed this.

Let's close this bug then, it's too old anyway. If somebody reproduces
something similar, please try with unstable and open a new bug.
