Executing /etc/init.d/amuled as root the daemon fails to start
without meaningful output.

This is the output of /usr/bin/amuled launched as a normal user 
(user with a running amule configuration in ~/.aMule):

aMule Version: aMuled 2.1.0 using wxGTK2 v2.6.1 (Unicoded)

Terminated after throwing an instance of 'CInvalidStateEx'
	what(): CRunTimeException::CInvalidStateException: CFile: Cannot get length of closed file.

I really don't think I've changed them myself. 
Changing the ownership of the root:root files fixed the problem.

You did obviously run aMule with sudo at some point, as aMule can't do
priviledge escalation to change your files to root ownership.

So this should be closed :)

I think that there's still a bug here that's worth fixing, in that amule
gave a very non-obvious explanation for the failure.  But yes, that's not
release-critical, so downgrading.

Hi,

as this bug is really old, and the submitter didn't react, I just 
changed the permissions of the files like in his report. amuled started 
and worked. amule.conf was changed back to owner and group of myself. I 
don't know how amule did this, because I had to use su to change the 
perms of the other files back to myself, too, but this bug can be 
considered to be done.
