I am doing a renovation, and wanting to track the current condition and
upgrades with a CAD program. I like the command line for entering the
information on current locations, rather than using the mouse to
repetitively place things like 2x4 studs in walls.

First example of object things. I placed a 2x6 stud flush with the
inner surface of a wall, when I should have placed the 2x6 flush with
the outer surface. I didn't see any means of editing the entire object
to shift it the nominal 2 inches, and found that if I edited the
components of the object (4 straight lines) via the GUI, the object
seemed to not be an object. I moved one short side by 2 inches
(flipping it actually), and the redraw showed a Z shape with the
ends disconnected. I moved the other short side (flipping it again),
and now I have a C shape with a vertical bar behind the backbone of the
C. Trying to move this closing side of the 2x6 over the other side of
the 2x4 stud bay doesn't get any joy, as it doesn't matter what layer is
active, it still doesn't display the correct "line" object for me to
move to the other side if the stud bay. (I have a layer for the floor,
a layer for the wall surrounding the floor, a layer for the pipes in the
wall surrounding the floor, etc.).

It seems like a person can use the menu to easily add an "object" which
has some kind of associated shape property (like an oriented rectangle),
but once the object has been entered it is broken down into disjoint
straight line segments that aren't associated with any other "objects".

I think it would also be nice to be able to "print out" objects in the
diagram in terms of coordinates (not draw them in a GUI), or to edit
objects. Maybe a person has a set of good measurements, but all with
respect to the wrong baseline. Doing this in a text-edit mode is a lot
faster and more accurate than trying to "move" some object in GUI mode.

Anyway, wishlist things. Nothing that will keep me from using QCAD. I
just end up redrawing things from scratch more often. I think they call
that practice. :-)
