Shift + PgUp scrolls the buffer of your X terminal. The running
application has no control over this buffer. Screen is an additional
buffer displayed in this terminal. You can't scroll things buffered by
screen with a key combination addressed to gnome-terminal.
To my knowledge, it is not possible to scroll the buffer of screen, but
I might be wrong and I'm reassigning to the screen maintainer so he can
give you the technical details.

You can go into screen's scrollback by going into copy mode. See the copy
command in the CUSTOMIZATION section of the manpage for details.
If you'd like shift+pgup to work, you can use the following line (from
the default /etc/screenrc) in your .screenrc:
# To get screen to add lines to xterm's scrollback buffer, uncomment the
# following termcapinfo line which tells xterm to use the normal screen buffer
# (which has scrollback), not the alternate screen buffer.
