Subject: autopartkit: fails when more than one lvm volume group on powerpc

[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
Package: autopartkit
Severity: important

I'm trying to create a Debian-edu CD-image for powerpc. One of the last
caveats is the partitioner. I've set up the installer to use autopartkit
1.09, which supports lvm2, and also added new glibc-udebs.
Using the default Partition table for Main-Server+Thin-client-server,
autopartkit fails, with message "Can't have the end before the start!"
Something is really strange with the calculation of the partition sizes.

I'll attach the syslog from the debian-installer.

I did some more testing, and I think autoartkit succeds if I choose to
have everything in one volume group, but I dont really remember. (I did
to many tests)

Using only one volume group for lvm works nicely.
I've tested with the current debian-installer, just added the
debian-edu-udeb's.

I dont have a syslog from the debian-installer availible, I guess that
one was removed from the new debian-installer.

The problem seem to start early. The negative number -669253632
should be a positive number, as toe code assume all requested
partition sizes are non-negative.

Jul 8 12:57:50 autopartkit[6382]: Using 'msdos' default disk label type

Jul 8 12:57:51 autopartkit[6382]: distribute_partition ok.

I do not know how this could happen. powerpc make me suspect some
endian problem, but the negative numbers smell of some signed/unsigned
or int/long mixup.

Subject: autopartkit has been removed from Debian, closing #317596
Date: Wed, 23 Apr 2008 01:30:13 +0100
Version: 1.30+rm

The autopartkit package has been removed from Debian testing, unstable and
experimental, so I am now closing the bugs that were still opened
against it.

For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/473148 . That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed, and suggestions of possible replacements.

Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.

Thank you for your contribution to Debian.
