I ve just installed the system from the sarge s cd  .( clean disk , no
upgrade )

After the boot, first start :

Starting system message bus: /etc/rc2.d/S20dbus-1: line 84:  3627 
Segmentation fault  start-stop-daemon --start --quiet --pidfile $PIDFILE
--user $DAEMONUSER --exec $DAEMON -- --system $PARAMS

After The boot ,trying to start the service :

Stopping Hardware abstraction layer: hald.
Stopping system message bus: dbus-1.
Starting system message bus: /etc/init.d/dbus-1: line 84:  4804

The problem come with nis :

Without nis : no problem with dbus-1
With nis : segmentation fault in dbus-1

It s a libc6 bug .

I solve it remplacing "compat" by "files nis" in /etc/nsswitch.conf .

Hi,

These bugs are marked as important when glibc 2.3.2.ds1 is used in
sarge.  Nowadays we have new glibc 2.3.5-3 in unstable.  Could you
test dbus-1 with new glibc?  I guess this problem is already fixed.
