This doesn't seem to be reproducible here; the program works fine for me.

To reproduce this bug, put nameserver lines containing machine names
instead of IP addresses into resolv.conf - this is a configuration
error, but the error message is misleading and why aren't invalid
lines being ignored anyway?
There are some characters between the quote marks, but they
are not visible on all terminals. To capture them, direct the
output to a file and use something like less to view it.
