Package: kernel-patch-2.4-grsecurity
Version: 1.9.15-2
Severity: grave
Dear László Böszörményi (GCS)
As reported in http://people.debian.org/~frankie/kernel-patches-checks.txt, kernel-patch-2.4-grsecurity does not
apply clean to a current kernel-source. If you think this package is anyway useful at least with
an up-to-date vanilla kernel and sure that it applies properly, feel free to document this in the
package and reduce the severity of this report, else this kernel-patch will be hinted for
removing in sarge.

Yes, it is known.

Yes, but I will do a repeated check then.

Quoting /usr/share/doc/kernel-patch-2.4-grsecurity/README.2.4.2x :
"The grsecurity patch will *not* apply to Debian kernels following (and
including) 2.4.20. If you want to build a grsecurity-enabled kernel with
a version higher than or equal to 2.4.20, you should use a vanilla
kernel source tree from one of the kernel.org mirrors."
Also, there's even a debconf warning for this issue; see
debian/po/templates.pot in the source please. Is these steps
enough for you or should I add more warnings?

I will reduce the severity at first, but I may ask for it's removal anyway.

I will do it tomorrow, it's just middle of the night ATM.
Thanks for reporting anyway. Regards,
Laszlo/GCS

Do you feel this package is still useful to have in etch?
It seems, because etch will not include 2.4 kernels[0], that the
usefulness is much reduced. OTOH, there may be reasons to still
include it - just checking what you think about this.
cheers,
Max

This package has been removed because it applies to the 2.4 kernel
only.
