Message #5 received at submit@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
Package: xchat
Version: 2.4.3-0.1
Severity: normal
In the server dialog (ctrl-s) there are two connect buttons: "connect"
and "connect in new tab". The former is easy to hit by mistake, and it
kills the current connection without asking for confirmation. This is a
usability problem. It would be better to have just "connect in new tab".
If the old tab needs to go away, one can always close it afterwards. If
the "connect in same tab" behavior is really needed, I think it would be
better to have a checkbox "Connect in same tab" (defaulting to false)
plus a "Connect" button. This makes connecting in the same tab possible,
but just a little bit more difficult to do, which should reduce mistakes
but not make such a rare operation particularly difficult, either.
