Subject: xfsprogs: xfs_admin -l leads to segmentation fault in xfs_db when being used on a swap or NTFS partition
Date: Fri, 04 Feb 2005 19:18:59 +0100
Package: xfsprogs
Version: 2.6.20-1
Severity: normal

Hello,

when I use "xfs_admin -l /some/device" on a swap partition I get:

xfs_admin: unexpected XFS SB magic number 0x00000000
xfs_admin: read failed: Invalid argument
xfs_admin: data size check failed
xfs_admin: cannot read root inode (22)
xfs_admin: cannot read realtime bitmap inode (22)
/usr/sbin/xfs_admin: line 1: 10369 Segmentation fault xfs_db -x -p xfs_admin -r -c label /dev/hda5

This happens both with

kernel-image-2.6.10-1-686, version 2.6.10-4

and

kernel-image-2.6.8-2-686, version 2.6.8-12

Just a "me too". I mistyped the device name and started xfs_admin on a
reiserfs partition:

xfs_admin: unexpected XFS SB magic number 0x00000000
xfs_admin: read failed: Invalid argument
xfs_admin: data size check failed
Segmentation fault

Running GDB on xfs_db (recompiled with -g using debian package) gives
this backtrace:

xfs_admin: unexpected XFS SB magic number 0x00000000
xfs_admin: read failed: Invalid argument
xfs_admin: data size check failed

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
