Package: wnpp
Severity: normal
I intend to orphan the mysqlcc package.
The package description is:
MySQL Control Center is a platform-independent GUI
administration client for the MySQL database server.
.
Features include:
* Interactive queries with a syntax-highlighting SQL editor
* Database and table management
* Server administration
* Cross-platform capability
.
For more information see www.mysql.com/products/mysqlcc/
NOTE: This package is abandoned upstream in favour of mysql-admin and
mysql-query-browser. MySQL CC is no longer maintained by MySQL AB.
If no one has any objections, this package should probably be
removed from Debian *before* Sarge is released.

According to the web page
http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/other/mysqlcc.html :
"Development of MySQLGUI has been suspended. Our
current development efforts are directed towards the
development of MySQL Administrator and MySQL Query
Browser."
I'm not sure if it makes sense having it in the
orphaned packages to be adopted at
http://qa.debian.org/orphaned.html as it's upstream
development has stopped, there's a replacement program
and probably it will become obsolete soon.

Both mentioned packages are indeed in sarge already, and mysqlcc was not
in any stable release.
Adam: You could maybe include the name 'mysqlcc' in the package
description of mysql-admin if it's a successor, to help people looking
for mysqlcc.

Message #28 received at 282554-close@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:
mysqlcc | 0.9.4-4 | source, alpha, arm, hppa, i386, ia64, m68k, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390, sparc
mysqlcc-i18n | 0.9.4-4 | all
Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive (ftp-master.debian.org) and will not propagate to any
mirrors (ftp.debian.org included) until the next cron.daily run at the
earliest.
Packages are never removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems.
Bugs which have been reported against this package are not automatically
removed from the Bug Tracking System. Please check all open bugs and
close them or re-assign them to another package if the removed package
was superseded by another one.
Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to 282554@bugs.debian.org.
This message was generated automatically; if you believe that there is
a problem with it please contact the archive administrators by mailing
