yesterday (2004-11-13) bochsbios has been updatet. since then qemu does
not start anymore. i've taken the original bios.bin vom the
upstream-site, started qemu with the -L path/to/bios option and now it
starts.

maybe you should pack your own version of the required bios(es) into
this package and not rely on bochs.

Hi,

Adding the dependency on vgabios fixed the problem in unstable, but
the version of vgabios in Sarge (0.4b-1) doesn't work with QEMU. The
combination of packages indicated below works OK for me.

This renders the package in Sarge unusable. bochsbios and vgabios
only have dummy bugs preventing them from propagating to Sarge
(#269888 and #269889); it may be worth closing those...

It may be useful to add versioned dependencies to QEMU, although that
won't fix the current problem in Sarge.
