When the snd modules is being loaded I get:

depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.4.27-1-686-smp/updates/alsa/snd-vx-cs.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.4.27-1-686-smp/updates/alsa/snd-vxp440.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.4.27-1-686-smp/updates/alsa/snd-vxpocket.o

As a result I cannot not get sound working on my system. 
alsa-modules-2.4.26-1-686-smp used to be working fine.

$ uname -a
Linux smallfry 2.4.27-1-686-smp #1 SMP Fri Sep 3 06:34:36 UTC 2004 i686 GNU/Linux

Have you installed the corresponding pcmcia-modules packages?

What was the last release of alsa-modules-2.4.27-1-686-smp that worked for you?

What symbols are unresolved?  Can you find this out by running depmod
from the command line?

Have you installed the corresponding pcmcia-modules packages?

We can't fix bugs when submitters don't provide us with the information

This bug may be fixed by the next alsa-modules-i386 upload.
