Package: ftp.debian.org
please remove kernel-patch-acl as it's completly useless,
package includes patches against kernel 2.4.22/23.
they are included in 2.6.8 so there is no point for that patch.
thanks

According to [1], the package is actually against 2.4.26.
Let's ask the maintainer's opinion first, too:
Yann, what is your opinion on this matter? Can this package indeed be
removed, or do you plan to update it eventually?
Thanks,

Well, I suppose at least some people have an interest on getting ACLs
on 2.4 kernels, since this patch is included in recent Debian kernels.
So I guess we should keep it.
OTOH, I don't have so much time those days. I'll possibly manage to
allocate time to checking how the patch works on 2.4.27, but if
someone want to take over this package he'll be welcomed.
Best regards,

Ok, moving this bug to wnpp to solicit interested people. If nobody
interested turns up in a few months, I suggest to remove the package
altogether.

Message #43 received at 273930-close@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:
kernel-patch-acl | 0.8.71-4 | source, all
Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive (ftp-master.debian.org) and will not propagate to any
mirrors (ftp.debian.org included) until the next cron.daily run at the
earliest.
Packages are never removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems.
Bugs which have been reported against this package are not automatically
removed from the Bug Tracking System. Please check all open bugs and
close them or re-assign them to another package if the removed package
was superseded by another one.
Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to 273930@bugs.debian.org.
This message was generated automatically; if you believe that there is
