Subject: service logs only say "NON-IPv4" for host ip
Date: Thu, 26 Aug 2004 22:19:12 +0200 (CEST)
Package: inetutils-inetd
Version: 2:1.4.2+20040207-3

Since the last upgrade through apt to the version mentioned
above any incoming connection through inetd produces senseless
host ip address information in the log files.
One example:

Aug 26 20:08:07 picasso ipop3d[23721]: Login user=theo host=NON-IPv4 nmsgs=32/32

Every message regarding ipop3d shows NON-IPv4 as the connecting ip
address, which does not seem to be very useful. The same happens using
imapd and seems to concern all inet services.

Bug reassigned from package `inetutils-inetd' to `ipopd'. Request was from Anand Kumria <wildfire@progsoc.uts.edu.au> to control@bugs.debian.org. (full text, mbox, link).

reassign 268251 ipopd
thanks,

Hi,

The NON-IPv4 message is actually logged by UW imapd and UW ipopd.

I agree that they aren't very useful though.

Cheers,
Anand

Subject: IP=$(IP6) should be included in patches/1001_shlibs.patch for the ldbs target
Date: Fri, 22 Aug 2008 08:33:57 +0100
Package: uw-imapd
Version: 7:2007b~dfsg-2
Followup-For: Bug #268251

It seems that the IPv6 support is not compiled in correctly, this causes
in more recents builds to be unable to login with an IPv6 address
getting this error message:

Line too long before authentication host=[NON-IPv4]

By changing the ldbs target to also include IP=$(IP6) fixes it:

+ldbs: an
+ $(BUILD) BUILDTYPE=lnps \
+ SPECIALS="GSSDIR=/usr SSLDIR=/usr SSLINCLUDE=/usr/include/openssl SSLCERTS=/etc/ssl/certs SSLKEYS=/etc/ssl/private"
+

would become:

+ldbs: an

+ SPECIALS="GSSDIR=/usr SSLDIR=/usr SSLINCLUDE=/usr/include/openssl SSLCERTS=/etc/ssl/certs SSLKEYS=/etc/ssl/private"

As subject says, this bugreport really is about lack of IPv6 support,
which is a regression from earlier Debian packaging releases.

Adjust description, and bump severity accordingly.
