Subject: findutils: updatedb from crontab as root: permission problem
Date: Sat, 31 Jul 2004 10:01:53 +0200
Package: findutils
Version: 4.1.20-4
Severity: normal

When running updatedb from crontab, it starts in the corresponding
home directory, e.g. /root. If /root has 0700 permissions, and if
updatedb changes to $NETUSER, it has no permission on the current
directory, hence a 'no permission' error.

The bug fix is:

wr:/usr/bin# diff -u updatedb updatedb.new

       (Closes: #262476)
     - 'xargs -n 1 -i' works. (Closes: #31858). Please note that it is no bug
       that -i changes xargs to pass a whole line of input as a single argument
       instead of splitting on any blank characters as without -i. - Other
       implementations behave the same and the -I XSI extension documented in
       SUSv3/POSIX works like this, too.
 .
    * Removed unnecessary patches: 10_missing_includes 20_missing_newlines
