Message #5 received at submit@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
Package: alsa-base
Version: 1.0.5a-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable
On a freshly installed system, the only present file is
/etc/alsa/0.9
The file /etc/alsa/modutils/1.0 is missing and causes alsaconf
to fail.
The workaround was:
mkdir /etc/alsa/modutils
touch /etc/alsa/modutils/1.0
ln -s /etc/alsa/modutils/1.0 /etc/modprobe.d/alsa
ln -s /etc/alsa/modutils/1.0 /etc/modutils/alsa
After these commands, alsaconf runs without problems.

Hi Jordi,
as we discussed on irc this is a possible patch to fix this bug:
http://we.give.back.to.debian.even.if.we.have.no-name-yet.com/patches/alsa-utils.256698.diff
Thanks
Fabio
PS the problem resides in alsa-utils more than in alsa-base but i leave up
to you how you want to handle the bug
