Version: 2.04-1
Severity: important

It's currently failing to build on amd64 because sample and
memdisk directory have 32 bit assembler that doesn't work on
amd64.

There is also a problem with the nasm generated file fails to
link to the others because it's it's for the i386 arch while the
others are for the of the x86-64 type.

If I remove sample and memdisk from the Makefile, add amd64 to
the arch list in the control file, and remove memdisk's install
from the rules file I'm able to build the package.

Package: syslinux
Version: 2.04-1
Severity: normal
Followup-For: Bug #249506

Hi,

the attached patch adds support to compile syslinux on amd64.
It introduces some changes to the Makefiles:

1. CFLAGS_CROSS are extra CFLAGS used when building boot code
   (i386 binary even on amd64)

2. ASFLAGS_CROSS are the same for as

3. memdisk and sample have to link with gcc and use CFLAGS_CROSS to get the
   right linker

4. memdisk has to override some default rules to add CFLAGS_CROSS

5. e820test is not build anymore. I don't know what this is for and it
doesn't seem to get included in the deb. If you still want to build
it for i386 you need to recompile the respective sources for it
without -march=i386 since e820test uses the libc code which is i486.
