Can you run "sylpheed-claws --debug" in a terminal and post
output's last ten lines? (you may edit/obfuscate private data
displayed, or send output to me privately, as you prefer)

Not much. But I'd suggest you to upgrade your X libraries to the
unstable ones, specially the font packages, or, alternatively, play
with the font settings in your ~/.sylpheed-claws/sylpheedrc (as the
error code is font related is the only advice I can give you).

As you're running claws from unstable but your xlibs are from
testing, I have created a similar setup here: a testing chroot with
unstable claws but it worked ok. So unless you have some other
suggestion I'll mark this bug as unreproducible.

I upgraded my system (recent X, recent kernel, recent testing),
downgraded sylpheed-claws -- all does not help.

I have all my recent system-upgrades (via apt) logged in a mail folder. So it should be possible
to determin which upgrade broke sylpheed-claws. Unfortunately I can't read these mails anymore.

Can you tell me how to dechiffe these mails. If it helps, i can send you this folder.

The idea was to upgrade X packages only and to keep sylpheed-claws
0.9.10, not downgrade it :)

What about my other suggestion: try with different font settings in
your sylpheedrc file. Some results?

FYI, sylpheed-claws 0.9.10 is also available in testing now.

It's very difficult if not impossible to reproduce such upgrade
sequence here. And even in that case, because of different hardware I
couldn't use all the same packages you have installed.

You can try to make your tests in a chroot environment[1], and see
what are the differences with your main Debian installation. This may
enlighten you (and me) about where the bug is.

Hi,

I'm sorry. I was and I will be the next weeks on business trips. So I
won't get the time to get into depth.

The problem has not been fixed, even when there has been a fix in the
font handling.

Ulrich

  I'm reopening this then.
When you have some time, could you please run it in a xterm with the
--debug flag ('sylpheed-claws --debug 2>&1 > debug.log') and post the last
relevant lines of debug.log here? (If you don't know what to paste attach the
whole debug.log unless is too big, in that case sent it to me privately in
a separate mail).

  thanks,

I mean with the new 0.9.12 version, of course, and upgraded xlibs
preferred too.
