Subject: gnumail: problems importing and displaying messages from an mbox

[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
Package: gnumail
Version: 1.1.2-2
Severity: normal

I've attached an mbox file that causes GNUmail to have trouble
importing it. When I import this file as a "Standard UNIX mbox", it
gets split into 2 messages, one of which cannot be displayed correctly
(a dialog box comes up that tells me that "A part of this E-mail
cannot be represented... Please report").

I suspect that the problem may arise from the "From another friendly
nerd..." line in the mbox. It could be that the importer tries to
split the mbox into separate messages based on the occurrence of the
word "From" at the beginning of a line. It may be best to check for a
valid "From" header first, like

>>>"From email@address.com timestamp"

(extra characters added so that the message won't be mangled).

In addition, I have not been able to successfully import any messages
from my $HOME/Mail folder. To test this, I copied my provided mbox
file to $HOME/Mail and tried to import it. Instead of getting 2
messages, it doesn't show any messages.

I just tried the test case in this old bug and it looks like it is
fixed -- the mbox is imported properly, and displayed fine.
