After transferring a couple of files in ASCII mode and then switching to
binary, it will fail to switch modes. It says it is switched, but does
the transfer in the wrong mode.

gftp is searching the file extension in a list to determine if the
transfer should be in binary or in ascii mode. Only if it can't find the
extension in the list, it uses the value given in the menus.

If you don't like this behaviour, you can modify the list (or even
remove it), it is located in ~/.gftp/gftprc. It is also used to find the
viewer corresponding to a file type.

Cheers,
Aurelien

Hi,
Thank you for the prompt reply, but that isn't what is happening.
Let me give you the exact recount of what will cause the bug -- I have done it several times to verify.
1 I connect to an FTP server and switch to ASCII mode
2 do a transfer.
3 switch to binary
4 do another transfer (should be binary but uploads in ASCII mode)

This is happening with extensions that are and are not found in the list, it just gets stuck in ASCII mode.

Regards,
John Andrews

Using these steps, I can reproduce the problem, with version 2.0.15-8.
However, the problem has been fixed in version 2.0.16 which is now in
Sid. It should go in sarge when glibc and linux-kernel-headers will be
moved to testing, that is to say in 6 days if no problem occurs.

Cheers,
Aurelien

gftp version 2.0.16 is now in both sarge and sid, that's why I close
this bug.
