Subject: autopartkit has problems with a not present removable drive
Date: Mon, 20 Oct 2003 11:58:23 -0400
Package: autopartkit
Version: unknown; from 10/9 netinst CD

My machine has a IDE ZIP drive on it, which is accessed using the SCSI
drivers. autopartkit kept trying to do things with it, but was unable
to since I had no ZIP disk in the drive. Got lots of warning messages
complaining about it, but was able to keep going and it handled the rest
of my drives OK.

It would be nice if it could detect that this was a removable drive
without any media and not tried to do anything with it at all.

Autopartkit uses libparted and ped_device_get_next() to locate
available disks and partitions. If this is accessing removable
devices, I suspect the problem is in libparted, and not in
autopartkit.

I'm not sure how libparted detect partitions.

Subject: autopartkit has been removed from Debian, closing #216711
Date: Wed, 23 Apr 2008 01:30:02 +0100
Version: 1.30+rm

The autopartkit package has been removed from Debian testing, unstable and
experimental, so I am now closing the bugs that were still opened
against it.

For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/473148 . That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed, and suggestions of possible replacements.

Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.

Thank you for your contribution to Debian.
