Description: Boulderdash-like game
This game should be instantly familiar to those who have tried "Boulderdash"
on the C-64, or "Emerald Mine" on the Amiga.
.
For the rest of you, it is a game in which you basically collect emeralds,
stay away from monsters and try to avoid being squished by rocks. This
version includes sound and supports joysticks, but your keyboard can also
be used.
.
It is even possible to design your own levels with the built-in editor,
and to record your game, replay it, and save it!

I'd like to take over the Rocks-N-Diamonds package. I'll see what I can do
about packaging the current upstream version (2.1.1) then locate a sponsor.

I've been unable to correct the problems mentioned in bug #210233. Much of
the user contributed graphics for Rocks-n-Diamonds seems to be based
on/copied from the tilesets made with unlicensed commercial graphics. I
can't honestly claim that I can seperate the good tiles from the bad. All
the other unlicensed content (sound effects, level data, and music) is easy
to identify.
If someone else wants to adopt this package, I'd be happy to give them a list
of files that definitely need to be removed from the upstream version. All
the other graphics files involve judgement calls that I'm not willing or able
to make.

I sent a mail to the last DD who made the ITA, asking if he was still
willing to make the package. Still no response for now. I'll take over
the package or make an NMU, or help him in the packaging.
I sent a mail to the upstream author of the game. He gave me more
informations on the copyright problems. The proposed solution is to make
a debian specific release, with all copyrighted materials removed.

So what's the status of this? According to #210233, the new upstream
version 3.0.3 doesn't have any copyright problems anymore.

That's not true. I'll paste here some informations gathered upstream and
with mails with Ingo Saitz. These mails were sent a month ago, december
17 and december 21. Upstream proposed the release of a special debian
version of the game, with no more copyrighted problems, but he has no
time for this for the moment. And I don't really trust his way of
telling if things are free or not. I put Ingo and John on the CC: list
for that matter.
Hope this will help you :)

Here you can see the problem with the graphics. He considers them not an
issue, since he modified their size (and their color depth, if I remember
another mail I can't find now).

Here are the non-free sounds :) The mail below was sent to me by Ingo Saitz,
who wanted to take over the package (one of the three):

Hi,
rocks-n-diamonds has been removed from debian, as it is legal more or
less impossible to distribute it. For more info, please see bug
#201411. So, I'm closing all bug reports.
Cheers,
Andi
